ZHALFIR
DOMINARIAN NO MORE
Once a massive, advanced kingdom that made up a large portion of the continent of Jamuraa on the plane of Dominaria, Zhalfir was phased out of time and space by the planeswalker Teferi Akosa during the first phase of the first Phyrexian Invasion.
As Zhalfir was easily the most technologically advanced kingdom on Dominaria at the time, the planeswalker Urza intended to utilize it as a powerful force against the Phyrexian invasion. Wanting to protect his home nation, Teferi phased it out of the timestream, intending to phase it in once the invasion was rebuffed as a force to restore the ravaged Dominaria.
However, this wasn’t to be. The void left behind on Dominaria by Zhalfir is known as the Zhalfirin Void, and after the events of the Mending of the multiverse and the time rift crisis on Dominaria, Zhalfir was assumed lost forever.
Hundreds of years later, during New Phyrexia’s invasion of the multiverse, the merging of the planeswalker Wrenn and the Realmbreaker World-Tree pulled Zhalfir free of its temporal suspension as a pocket plane and slammed it into the plane of New Phyrexia. The end result of which, guided by the planeswalker Teferi, was Zhalfir taking the place of New Phyrexia in the multiverse as its own plane. Zhalfir has taken on Mirrodin’s five suns as part of this process, along with the few Mirran survivors from New Phyrexia, although the nature of the plane has yet to take shape.
