Shandalar
A Vibrant World Untethered
Often referred to as ‘the core set plane’, Shandalar is a rogue plane that drifts through the multiverse rather than holding a distinct point in space. Initially the setting of the Magic the Gathering computer game, it became the standard ‘high fantasy’ plane after its use in Core Sets, being home to a wide variety of races and rich, bright mana havens. Rich in lore and connected to many notable events including The Ice Age of Dominaria, Shandalar has played home to numerous planeswalker plots, sought-after artifacts, and great demons during its history. Most notably, it was once home to a race of ogre artificers known as the Onakke who were massacred and had the collective souls of their race stored in the powerful artifact known as the Chain Veil. Shandalar is also home to a unique branch of slivers, which have evolved in the plane’s rich mana to resemble more alien and humanoid forms compared to their more serpentine brethren from Rath and Dominaria.
