ARCAViOS

GOING BACK TO SCHOOL

First seen through the lens of Strixhaven, the world’s primary school of magic, Arcavios is a world with a temperamental past. During a period known as The Dawning Age, Arcavios was born in the multiverse already overlapping another plane. The mana of these two planes were spliced and conflicted one another, creating five vortices of mana that birthed the five elder dragons. These dragons mastered the five contradictory forces of magic in the world, and by the time humanoid races arose on Arcavios, they set out to instruct them on the magic of the world. During this time, a period known as The Blood Age occurred. The Blood Age is defined by the ceaseless war that took hold of Arcavios, where orcish blood magic clashed with kor armies and plunged the entire plane into chaos. The five elder dragons sought to put an end to this chaos, and so eventually founded the mage school Strixhaven to educate and bring order to the plane.

Many exist factions within Strixhaven that help place powerful mages and warriors across the plane. Since its founding 700 years ago, Strixhaven has instructed mages in its five colleges: Silverquill (W/B), Prismari (U/R), Witherbloom (B/G). Lorehold (R/W), and Quandrix (U/G).

There are many instances of ancient and powerful elements across Arcavios. For example, the plane is often visually defined by arrangements of gravity-defying arrangements of stones or other natural materials known as star arches’. In addition, knotted mana across the plane, left entangled from the dawning age, forms what are known as ‘snarls’. These are vortexes of incredibly powerful and dangerous mana that can be harnessed by mages for incredibly powerful spellcasting. Arcavios also has two suns, known as Karu and Ezza.

Deep within the most wild reaches of the plane known as the Vastlands, a race of giant, otherworldy beings known as Archaics live and dispense knowledge to those seeking advice and wisdom.

Strixhaven is also home to the multiverse’s largest library, known as The Biblioplex. Within it are said to be records of every story ever told and every spell ever conjured. The set Strixhaven was accompanied by non-standard reprints in a special frame known as Mystical Archives which represent the otherplanar tomes within the Biblioplex.
